The home of Aimsel's Record Books !

Welcome to the home of Aimsel's Record Books. Here's the story, morning glory. I make 70 page blank journals using the front and back covers (and sometimes liner notes) of old record albums. This all got started four or so years ago when my love for office supplies converged with my love of music and album art. One random day I brought an old album cover into work, snuck over to the paper cutter and then the binding machine and soon the first Record Book saw the light of day. I love journals and figured I'd just use it to write down stuff but when I showed it to a few friends I was told in no uncertain terms "Aim, you GOTTA make more." I now have my own binding machine, massive paper cutter and a Care Bears record player (for listening to music of course!) in my basement workshop. What's extra groovy is that all the vinyl (and in case you are wondering, I only use albums that the vinyl is very beat up on. I LOVE music and records and am not into wrecking perfectly good records) Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, I give all my vinyl to my buddy Shawn, owner of Sounds Absurd the COOLEST record store ever on Oak st. in Portland and he makes coasters and bowls. And, I give all the album cover scraps to Diane, owner of the Ferdinand Home Store on Congress St. and she makes INCREDIBLE collages with them. Go see them both! They also both sell my Record Books. They sell for $10 there and at a couple of craft fairs that I am fortunate enough to partake in. I had a blast last December at the Picnic Winter craft sale and hope to be at their Summer one! (stay tuned). The other big news is that I am SO HAPPY to have been selected as a vendor at the soon to be opened Merchant Company on Congress St. (across the street from Local Sprouts). I'll be selling the Record Books and some completely random FUN vintage treasures that I've been collecting for the past couple of years. Stay tuned for a bunch more details about that. If you wanna say Hi, are interested in picking up a Record Book or two fire off an email to me via aimselponti@yahoo.com Thanks for stopping by. Time to post a few pics. Cheers, Aimsel May 22, 2011
